Coworking, Office Space Hollywood, LA

Fischach, Bavaria, is one example, where a family book was kept until 1942. Second Home Hollywood is the first US location of the London-based creative workspace business for entrepreneurs. For Second Home's sixth site created in partnership with the Madrid-based design team selgascano, the Anne Banning Community House in Hollywood was transformed into a 90,000-square-foot urban oasis. Second Home Hollywood features a restaurant, La Despensa, along with a branch of Second Home's acclaimed bookshop Libreria. The campus includes a 200-seated auditorium, rooftop bar, photography, and podcast studios, and outdoor garden terraces. Unlike vital records and name adoption lists that document specific events, the Matrikel , another document of value to genealogists, recorded a family’s composition at a certain point in time or, sometimes, over extended periods.

With some exceptions, Jewish records tend to follow the outline generally prescribed for the Gentile records. In addition to the original registers kept by the rabbis, a second copy, kept by the local pastor of the dominant local church, commonly existed. These were copied, usually once a year, from the rabbi’s original. Frequently, the clergy possessed superior penmanship, at least during the first half of the century.

Civil records from Pforzheim to Pfersee, in fact from Bremen to Bukowina, are both very similar and also quite different. Throughout the Middle Ages, European Jews enjoyed almost autonomous family law, set by Jewish tradition rather than the state. Henderson also utilized performance energy modeling to comply with Title 24 requirements. Design elements such as the bungalow orientation, external shading, envelope materials, and sustainable equipment selections for the building systems were closely coordinated to reduce energy usage while preserving the lush views of the surrounding landscape. Another sustainable design element is the cross laminated timber roof.

Sometimes the old and new names alliterated, but often they did not. Prior to about 1830, records were written with quill pens. While they had a somewhat idiosyncratic ink flow, quills made it easy to identify the direction of the stroke. Pointed steel nibs from England were introduced in 1830, which accentuated the spiky nature of the Gothic Current. In 1907, the broadheaded nib was invented, again giving the script a more prominent stroke direction. Over the years, Gothic script evolved somewhat differently in different regions.

LA's healthiest workspace

CLT systems have been used widely in Europe but limited prior use in the United States. When the design began, the local code authority, LA’s Department of Building Safety, did not even recognize CLT products as potential lateral seismic components. Walter P Moore did not let that obstacle prevent this landmark use. The other one is demolished and, on top of the existing underground parking, a 60 new oval-shaped individual offices and meeting rooms are placed surrounded by a garden that will be the Second Home for almost 700 people. Four different oval shapes create the 60 bungalow offices of 4 different sizes, that are scattered around the garden built with 4 feet of soil on top of the parking slab, burying the bungalows down to the table height.

The transparent curved walls allow 360º horizontal views of the plants, giving the feeling to be working among nature. Conceived as a new model for creative nomadic workspace, Second Home Hollywood will offer individual office pods submerged in shared landscape program that promotes wandering, exploration and the cross pollination of ideas between tenants. An intricate network of paths activates the entire property with Courtyards, cafes and informal gathering spaces positioned strategically at busy nodal points. The building also accommodates an event and conference hall. Ultimately, Walter P Moore’s creativity enabled the team to preserve an historically important structure and convert an under-used parking lot into a healthy and lush urban working environment unlike anything else in Los Angeles. The diverse LA arts, design, and corporate communities have collectively adopted Second Home Hollywood for co-working and special events, and the project has won numerous awards for its spectacular design.

Additionally, Second Home acts as a social hub where guests can network with an open-to-the-public restaurant, roof deck, and outdoor terrace as well as access to unique resources such as a bookshop, auditorium, recording studio, and post-production editing facility. Our two acre outdoor campus includes private offices, meeting rooms, shared workspace, a restaurant, and event spaces. We are home to over 6,500 plants–Los Angeles' most dense urban forest. The interior spaces in this project go pretty much unnoticed and the main focus is outdoors, which is quintessential to the living style in Los Angeles. In Second Home Hollywood, instead of bringing the garden inside the office, we have brought the office out to the garden. 60 one level stand-alone offices in the garden of a Paul Williams building.

Indoor and outdoor workspaces available plus full access to all Second Home services and community. I find the symbiosis between urban and natural environments incredibly appealing and a rising trend in the world’s greatest cities. I idealize a utopic metropolis as a habitat for humans and countless other species and which could not be distinguished apart from a forest as viewed from space.

As part of the series, Dezeen hosted a talk with British designer Thomas Heatherwick, in which he explained his studio's "human-centred" approach to the design of public spaces. "It harks back to this idea we share with SelgasCanos that our best and most creative work comes from natural forms and organic forms, rather than overly contrived human geometry," he added. Founded by Rohan Silva and Sam Aldenton, Second Home is a coworking space agency that launched its first office space in east London in 2014 and has since then opened 6 other locations in London, UK, and Lisbon, Portugal. Second Home bought and relocated SelgasCano's colourful Serpentine Pavilion to the city's La Brea Tar Pits. The rebuilt structure was used to host free public talks, film screenings, and other events from 28 June until 24 November to celebrate the opening of the Hollywood outpost. The oval-shaped pods are built with cross-laminated timber , an engineered wood that is formed from layers of timber glued together. According to the team, the project is "the first ever approved use of cross-laminated timber in California".
